Ryan Kavanaugh - Hollywood Producer and Entertainment Executive
The founder and co-chief executive officer of Relativity, Ryan Kavanaugh started his entertainment industry career developing slate financing for several major Hollywood studios. He brought more than $10 million in capital to the entertainment business, developing funding structures for some of the largest studios in the industry. Ryan Kavanaugh founded Relativity as a finance and production company, eventually transforming it into a multi-dimensional film studio following the 2010 purchase of distribution and marketing operations at Overture Films. He also expanded the studio's activities to China and entered into a groundbreaking television distribution deal with Netflix.
Today, Kavanaugh oversees the many divisions of Relativity, which maintains a “360 degree” global media platform that spans the film, scripted television, digital media, and branded entertainment verticals. Films produced by Relativity have garnered 60 Academy Award nominations and have generated over $17 billion in global box office revenue. Some of the studio’s recent notable films include The Fighter, Limitless, Immortals, Act of Valor, Safe Haven, and Oculus. Outside of his work in the entertainment industry, Ryan Kavanaugh established the Kavanaugh Family Foundation to support more than 50 charitable organizations across the world. The foundation focuses on a wide range of social issues, from combating anti-Semitism and helping children in need to protecting and rescuing animals. In recognition of his dedication to philanthropy, Ryan Kavanaugh received the Tom Sherak Award from the Fulfillment Fund, as well as the Community Champion Award from the Sheriff’s Youth Foundation.
